Self-evaluation

  • What skills do you currently have for these jobs? consider your own strengths, and think of how this can be evidenced?

For graphic designing I share many of the same strengths listen in the infographic above. I have dealt with clients through project briefs which I was given for my units, I was also given deadlines which I had to strictly follow. I did this by organizing a time schedule through a Gantt chart which really benefited me when working with these deadlines. Copyright was a factor which I had to keep in mind whilst creating logo designs to prevent myself from using other artists work; I used royalty free websites which provide users with copyright free pictures.

  • What areas do you think you would need to develop further?

Skills that I can proceed to develop further would definitely be working as a team and hearing other peoples ideas to create a product. Working as a team is very beneficial for several reasons when working as a graphic designer. Problem-solving skills are in high demand since the majority of the jobs require some sort of problem-solving, whether its graphics designing or photography. Critical thinking is a very helpful skill to develop and will most definitely help in a lot of scenarios.

  • How can you achieve these skills?

Team working skills can definitely be improved and gained by working in a team on a single project. In order to be more skilled at using cameras, I have to research and take photos to get more confident with the ISO, aperture, and lighting. Critical thinking skills can be developed many ways by simply just asking questions if you’re unclear, this will make sure you know the basics of the task so you can continue without any problems.

Give specific examples where you can, and specifically consider your work experience.

Work experience was a significant place for me to do so because we had to work as a team when trying to take pictures of an object, placing the object and controlling the lighting was a team activity. It also gives you a special insight into how a working environment operates and runs.
